those numbers look like 0 460 494 336???
thats a VE (IDI) pump from a passat
it won't be supplying the right pressure for TDi injectors surely?? can you get a good pic of the whole engine and of the pump & injectors

or the VW part number 028130108 gives a 1.9td (again IDI) pump from a T4

looks to have had the LDA capped off??
How does it run (apart from the spindle leak)?
You may be better off converting it back to a proper TDi if you don't know anything about the install?? they look like proper TDi injectors?

Thats a mess. Get some gunk and that engine cleaned up.
New throttle cable wont go amiss.
Suprised the injector hoses have not split with the "clever" ziptie clamps.
Maybe a look on BW for a fuel pump gasket set.

It runs ok
I inherited this setup it was put in 2005 and I got the camper 2019 and I did think about making it back to TDi but it’s expensive, maybe if a doner car comes up! but for now I just need to get this leak on the spindle shaft sorted out
So can I take the top of and fit a new seal/O ring any ideas or maybe a different pump mtdi pump but money is a bit tight so hoping I can fix.

okay but be warned that taking off the throttle spindle on these VE pumps can lead to a can of worms!
If it was me (and I
had to do it) I would order the seal kit for the 1.9d/td throttle spindle
https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/diesel ... m-for-idi/
find a way of holding the upper and lower springs in tension (cable ties/wire)
mark the spindle carefully and mark the position of the lever
remove and replace seal
HOPE NOTHING MOVED

Useful site for Bosch VE. I take no responsibility for the content…

Thats a lovely resource but I stand by my assertion that "if I
had to do it"
The VE pump is a great design, you can almost visualise the cam disc producing pressure but in this situation I wouldn't be replacing a seal

Weren’t those pumps on the Unwelt (environment/environmental/eco i think in German) badged cars/engines?
Think are 15/20 pump variants if you’re bored with life and look on etka.
It’s is similar to the ABL pumps on a T4 in that there was no LDA fitted (therefore no extra fuel is introduced to make use of any boost/positive pressure generated by the turbo)
As Hutch has said, unless rotor head/cam plate have been apart and built to match injectors, it won’t be making the pressure to open them fully and effectively.
(From memory AAZ injectors are 155/160 maybe and 1z were round about 200bar give or take.
You can retro fit an LDA to them however.
As for leaking spindle? Decent diesel tech who is experienced with pumps can do the seal in 15 mins or so. It’s just knowing how to disassemble the top where it latches into the Governor.
