Has anyone got one of the gas fed underfloor heaters like I have in my 1980 Devon. Bottom panel is missing, need to know if replacement should be solid or holed for ventilation. Thanks

have a poke, at a guess there should be a plaque that says either "propex"
or "trumatic"

hope this helps

It's a carver heater also called trumatic or truma i think. As for bottom panel i don't know what you mean, it all looks to be there. It attaches through the floor at the panel visible. Looks "feck" though i'd ditch it. I had one and planned to fit but too big for our vans - couldn't site it properly. You'll see the trend for eber/propex on here- there must be a reason for that...

Pic 1 looking down at floor, unit is just inside door, usually has metal grid and carpeted plate over it.

Pic 2 underside, looks like plate should screw into holes at bottom of box!

Hi futurecut

We were playing a guessing game to try and work out what type of heater creamcracker had in his van. The photo is the first one of a carver SB1800 I found on google, since I had spare parts I thought I would have a stab in the dark.

eber/propex are the dogs if you hve big pockets. Here is a photo of my SB1800 it takes a bit to heat up but once up to temp keeps the van nice and cozy.

Hi creamcracker.

What you have there is a Riviera de luxe heater.

The bottom plate is solid. No ventilation holes required although they dont take long to appear due to tin worm

I would strongly reccomend you have your heater professionally checked before you fire it up as the box position leaves it prone to severe corrosion and the one I took off my 1990 van had serious rot problems.

I still have the original installation and operating instructions leaflet which you are welcome to.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for that info, will definately get it checked out as I have never fired it up. Would love copies of info if possible, let me know how you can send them - hard copy, email etc

tis a riviera alright, may have the bits , although your'e best to give it a thorough inspection before using. The gas jets in mine had rusted, also the external box, didn't need a gas check could see it was bu**erd, ripped it out and threw away (think I kept the covers though). Will let you know.

I've got one in my van. Mine fires up OK, but I've not used it for a long time.

There is a grill and plate that fits over the top hole.

The bottom has a solid, unperforated plate that slots in at the rear and then lifts up and is held in place at the front by a stainless steel screw.... screws into that hole you can see:

Originally it would have had an asbestos? lining to the inner of the box like construction. It is of Dutch manufacture.

You should have the controls on the seat/bed corner near the slider!
