In process of replacing the thermostat and the smaller of the two bolts has disappeared into thin air, dropped out of the housing, heard it bounce about but cannot be found. Intended on new bolts anyway but I don't know the length, it's the shorter of the two, can anyone help with a length?

Is that what used to be ETKA? Thanks. I worked it out in the end, 30mm, using a bit of wire. I feel like I'm in a remake of Das Boot at the moment, yesterday my jumper was 78 percent coolant. Whoever designed the early cooling system must have had tiny but strong hands.

You did well to get the bolts out. Mine were fused into the housing!!

I went under with a box spanner and a Tommy bar, I'd drained it first so a lot of the hoses could be moved away but the oil filter was just enough in the way of the short bolt and there was just enough coolant in the hoses to drench my left arm.
