Regeared gearbox question

Hi all, simple question. Is there somewhere where you can buy a regeared gearbox suitable for stronger engines, then just swap over at the same time as the engine? I will at some point want to replace my 1.7 diesel with an AAZ if i can find one but dont want a flipped box. I like the original set up.

The early DK code gearbox would be a good choice, if you have the early gear linkage set up.

Some rebuilders may have rebuilt boxes in stock they can provide in exchange a good core, but it is usually a bespoken job as there is too many variables affecting the price.
Your option would be to buy a spare box, have it rebuilt, then swap it over with the engine.

IMHO you'd be better off really keeping the 5 speed set up you have, 5 speed better for turbo diesel as shorter gaps helps keep turbo spinning as you go up through the box and shorter gaps help when you drop a cog to keep the engine spinning rather than just pushing the loud pedal and using the torque to overcome inertia, with a 4 speed the gaps are bigger between gears.
New 4.57 crown and pinion from Brickwerks
linky
depending on weight, size, tyre size and how good the AAZ installation you might want a 0.78 gear as fifth for an extra 5% more overdrive like 5th gear, your ABR box will have the 0.82, the 0.78 is available new
make sure you are set up as full member with your brickwerks discount set up
you could put up a wanted for an AAP code gearbox, but chances of getting a good one are pretty slim, that's a petrol box 4.57/0.82 fifth, swap over the input shaft and bellhousing
