Antifreeze .. Triple QX orange .. alternatives

I have a '89 turbo diesel T25 and have always used the orange coolant, Triple QX and after a cold night last night I think i need to get some.

To be truthful, the last few times I have just added water ... probably not ideal, but with winter approaching fast, I need some proper antifreeze.

Unfortunately, my local car shop can not obtain this brand any more

What other optionjs do I have, for orange antifreeze .

Looking on halfords website, there are a few including Comma Xstr G48 and another G30 bottle  . will these be suitable

I have a 2011 Corsa 1.1 and it takes orange coolant too

thanks

Orange Triple QX still available from eurocarparts & carparts4less so I’d personally say stick with it unless you are wanting to do a complete drain and flush.

Have you tested the antifreeze in there. It may just need a slight addition of new to get the ratio right.

How old is the current stuff, maybe time for a complete flush - then it wont matter what you use. I have pinky purple in mine (g13 i think it is).

If going new, I would definitely recommend Holts cooling system flush additive during the flush procedure.

Flush 3 times till its crystal clear.

You wont get all the water out, doesn't matter. When refilling add you 8litre of neat and then water to bring up to volume (16L)

I've always been led to believe that especially in a WBX the anti corrosive properties of the coolant were more significant than its anti-freezing abilities, hence the 50% ratio recommendation, specification of G11/G12/G12+/G13 etc, and the recommendation to change coolant regularly.

Not sure what spec the orange stuff is?  But probably best to play it safe and top up with the same unless flushing it out and changing for G12/G13 etc?

Definitely, but in this case it’s a diesel not a WBX

Yes, I think I'll just stick to what I know

The van was off the road for over 2 years, but this worked fine previously .. so why change

Thank you everybody for your comments

Car parts for less is the same as ECP. Order off CP4L if cheaper and you still collect at ECP - stupid concept esp considering they charge a collection fee.

The G30 is the base of the VW G12/G13 family.
You cane use it safely, but note the concentration of 50% conforming the -36C freezing point.
You may also use GM DEXCOOL which is similar.
