My D reg Autosleeper T25 has developed a faulty hazard light switch - only the right side of the van flashed. I ordered a new switch online which was stated as compatible with this model and age of van, which has arrived, it works fine, but it is slightly the wrong shape to fit in the dashboard housing. The new one is on the right in the photo. How and where might I find the correct part and what should I search for, so I don’t get sent the wrong one again?

I would have checked all your cables and grounds first. Might not be the switch, unless you've gone through all that.

Yes the garage checked all that and confirmed it was the switch

Yep that looks like the correct part number, but seems generally discontinued
There’s one on EBay for 66 quid from the USA though … hmm…!

That's fair, although I'll be honest Ive had some clowns look at my van and tell me something is bust when its something else causing the issue that they apparently checked. I guess I'm quite jaded

Having connected up the one I was sent, and seen that it works, I’m pretty sure a replacement switch that fits the mounting point is the answer. I think I’ve found one here: https://audi-klaus.at/shop/produkt/vw-p ... 71953235a/ - fingers crossed !

Have you tried taking the switch apart and cleaning the contacts with some contact cleaner? Does wonders on iffy switches.

You best check with them first. As a lot of companies in the EU are not willing to post to the UK now.

The OP says the new switch works but doesnt fit.

So whats with all the cleaning bla bla.

Look on ebay at vans being broken for parts and send a message.

Also try VW heritage or Brickwerks

The cleaning of the contacts in the switch can alleviate issues of switches not working. Hard grease can stop the contacts making contact.
Zero to lose and potentially zero cost.
That is why i suggested it.
As you say, the OP has rightfully diagnosed it as almost certainly a switch fault.

If it is not possible to get a replacement for any type of switch it is always worth trying to clean the internal contacts if you can gain access to them. In this case it looks from the picture as though it would be possible to strip the switch assembly & clean the internal contacts ( or at least worth trying).
