First start up in a while - advice

Hi folks hope you are good.

Going to do an oil change as part of a wider service on a 1.9dg that's not been turned over in 6 months. Advice on oil changes says to run the engine until warm before draining to help the oil drain and to pick up any crap that might be floating about, but I'm trying to change the oil before firing her up so I don't know what's best.

Sorry for such a simple question

I'm also changing oil filter, fuel filter etc

Thanks in advance

I would check the condition of the oil via the dipstick, if it looks really dirty and grimy, i would drain it and start the engine on fresh oil and filter not forgetting to use the correct oil and a new washer. But somebody else may have other views.

Thanks Tony. It feels a little chicken and egg doesn't it.

So if oil looks OK, start on existing oil to warm up then drain.
If oil looks dirty/grimy drain first

Sounds like sage advice thanks
