Further to my first post.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the black plastic headrest guides/inserts once the headrests have been removed?
Thanks

They are held in by expanding ends , if you are lucky they may pop out with a screwdriver, if you can feel inside the seat back try and find the ends and squeeze them together with your fingers

davidoft1,
Thanks for reply.
I have to say that I have taken these guides out years ago when I fitted the existing seat covers, but I honestly can’t remember how I did it!!!
It definitely wasn’t done by going inside the seat.
Could you please expand on what you mean by using a screwdriver?

Lift up the seat back cover and use a socket or tube on the bottom ends of the plastic inserts to pinch the ends and push up through the internal metal holes. Dont use a screwdriver on the outer top parts or try to force them out .

Thanks for responses.
Is there any way of removing them from the top?
I obviously did it before, but cannot remember how I did it!!!

You must have forced them up and out, if you dont want to use the correct method then just force them out again, could be easier this time as the plastic ends would have been damaged.

multisi,
Thanks again.
I managed to get one of the guides out - not too difficult - presume the others will follow when I'm ready.
Just out of interest - do you think I could have fitted the seat covers without taking the guides out?
I really can't remember taking the guides out in the past.

Are you going to remove the covers that are on the seats and put new ones on ?

multisi,
I "somehow" fitted new seat covers some years ago and it is my intention to remove existing and replace with new.

multisi,
I'll look at the "correct way" of removing the guides as soon as I manage to source companies that make Custom made seat covers.
(As I mentioned in the first post.)
Meanwhile, many thanks for all your help.

Be aware there are 2 sizes of seat foam bases, being an early van you may have the small ones, i have a pair of large used foam bases or you can buy new ones from Brickwerks.
