I used insulation on a roll. A bit like aluminum foil bubble wrap. Been on there about 3 yrs now stuck with spray glue.

This sort of thing, just to give you an idea. A lot of waste there though unless you fancied using the rest to do your van!

Has anyone done this on a fibreglass engine lid as there are no wires to hold it in place??

The GRP lids have molded foam insulation with built-in chickenwire reinforcement. Remove at your peril, it should be fire retardant. Better to fix some thin foil faced foam inside the van, then it can't come unstuck and drop onto the engine
