Hi All, my T25 1990 Fresh air blower decided after 30 plus years to turn into smoke along with the 3 speed switch (what a stink !!!)
So, where is the best place to source a new blower plus switch ?
And maybe there is a guy who is proficient at removing the dash and can do the job as Im travelling around UK ?

Please send info, thanks
Bill

I’ve just done mine, no amount of money would make me do it again!

Mine went ages ago, same symptoms as yours, been meaning to get around to it, but some screws holding dash in place near windscreen refuse to budge, worth giving yours screws a dose of plus gas to aid removal by who you opt for to replace your motor.

It is a modestly easy job to do.

It is "how in depth you go with it."?
It is always tempting to sort many other bits whilst the dash is out.
I suppose that depends upon funds, urgency to get out on the road and also your level of perfectionism / o.c.d.

There are two tricky areas - seized / rusted in screws just below the windscreen glass,

And then there is the likelihood that the heater casing is glued / heat bonded together or how unlucky you are during the strip down process, at braking the ancient plastic parts.

Now then do you replace the motor, resistor pack, matrix and foam seals...it soon gets involved and expensive...

then there is the pulse width modulation (pwm) variable fan speed control, that some people fit instead of the resistor pack.

I am a little hamfisted, but managed to get the dash out of my T25 in about two hours. Not too difficult - biggest issue was the bolts on the steering column, but I frequently read about issues on the fastenings by the windscreen too.

There are a couple of helpful videos on YouTube showing how to do the job, one from GoWesty. As has been said there’s nothing that’s really too difficult about it. Just a pain that’s all. So if you get it done for you you’re not paying a mechanic for a job they alone have the special skills to do but for absorbing the time consuming pain of it. And you get a chance to clean out the dust and tidy up the spaghetti behind the dash at the same time.

I had this issue - self-tapping screws rusted into place - a bit too close to the screen for comfort.
The only brown-trouser moment of the whole exercise for me.

The only thing that confused me, was the routing of the air trunking between the blower casing and the dash vents.
Remember too, that the trunking may be attached to the casing with self tapping screws - at least one of my corrugated tubes was.

Other than that, it is just a matter of labelling wires or cables if you need to, so that you know what and where everything is when you put it all back together again.

As mentioned above - a good time to tidy stuff up.
Clean out 30+ years of dust and dirt.
Repair / adapt or modify any cables that you have whilst you have access.
And if you are like me - tidy up cable runs by looming the spaghetti that sits back there.

When I did my heater blower, I cleaned and painted my flap levers, and my control levers.

replaced the foam seals

and replaced the motor itself.

I also fitted a PWM speed controller in place of the resistor pack.

Check your heater matrix whilst you are in there.
Luckily for me, mine looked okay.

If you get to this stage, then you cannot get much tidier...

Other than giving the whole lot a good wash.
