Hey folks, I finally got my van running again and it’s time to tune her up… I’ve got to go out and get a timing light today so sorry, I don‘t have current reading… but I remember i always had trouble with the timing, it would never run at the correct timing and would have to be wildly ˋout´ to run well.

i cannot find much info online on what the timing position should be, can anybody help me out.
I’m running a 2.0l cu with a non-stock, points dizzyImage
any ideas anybody please.

Running a search on this dizzy, it says it’s for a type I or II…. But in the past the van was running amazingly well with it, really decent performance and fuel economy…

cheers, love ya. B

Hi Billy,

The best I can do is give you the Haynes numbers for a conventional breaker points systems: 7.5º BTDC at 800-950 rpm.
I have the electronic ignition system on the CU engine and have got good running from setting to the Haynes spec. (4-6° ATDC).

Have you still got the Solex carbs?

Hello,

This may be of help:

If the timing setting seems way out...the drive pinion of the distributor may be 1 tooth out.
