Is there a procedure to follow when installing this type of fuel filter? Should I clamp the 2 hoses before releasing then install the new one? I'm concerned about introducing air in to the system or is that not an issue? Cheers.

Clamping the hoses may help to avoid making some mess, but not really necessary.
The filter may self-bleed after starting, however it is better to fill up.
The easiest way is if you put on the tank side hose and suck the other end until diesel comes out - preferably not ino your mouth

better to use some suction device.

And this time use the correct hose clips - those that you have on there tend to permit air in as they don't clamp evenly.
