What a Dipstick

Doing checks on van, coolant, oil levels etc. Oil level was below minimum mark, thought that can't be right as the engine would have been clattering like mad which it hasnt been, just about to top up but checked again, this time all ok, realised that the first check the dipstick wasn't fully home and had rested on its lip.
