Hi,

I've got an issue with my 5 speed box..second gear, the van
already had the problem when I bought it a few months ago.

I can change from 1st to second no problem.
When I decelerate whilst in 2nd it jumps out of gear.
If it has jumped out of gear I can't put it back in, it just grinds the gears.
I can't go from a higher gear down into 2nd.

Yesterday I fitted the 025 Motorsport quick shifter and adjusted the selector rod. I was hoping it was a selector issue but it still has the same issue. All other gears go in fine.

I've ordered a selector ball and cup incase it's that??
Is it the gearbox? If so what is it likely to be?

usually 5 speed jumping out of 2nd on the overrun is worn pinion bearing allowing shaft to move back and fro' so 2nd gear in effect moving away from the syncroniser slider so dog teeth bearing surfaces reduced to point of release, every time it pops out wears the dog teeth on the gear and slider more; maybe also possible broken synchro ring, selector fork bearing wear or failure, and relay lever bore wear and or selector shaft issue or combination thereof

Hopefully the new cup etc will arrive next week so I'll see if that improves things but I doubt it.

Looks like I'll be taking the gearbox out in the near future.
