Can someone point me in the direction of a simpleton's guide to the Pierberg carb on our 1.9DG?

Usual stuff, intermittent faults, choke won't come on, sometimes comes on etc etc

Please keep it simple!

Do you have a specific fault? The pierburg is pretty robust but often neglected.
James Aker's rebuild is very informative.

Air/Fuel mixture. Turn it clockwise all the way in, then anti-clockwise out 2.75 turns. Done.

Set idle to 850+\-50rpm
Done.

Choke, make sure 12V feed works; it’ll work without choke, but just a bit lumpy for first few minutes.

That’s all the easy stuff, then as maxstu said, you’re into rebuild territory after that. But even that’s not too bad; x 3 difficulty.

Just rebuilt my spare as I think my current ones got crap in it. Easy enough, if you do take it apart for a rebuild get it ultrasonic cleaned. You don't wanna rebuilt it and still have crap in it.

That reminds me of a very old joke.
A car breaks down and the driver calls the AA. The AA man arrives and inspects the engine. After a short consideration the AA man turns to the driver and says, "you've got crap in the carb!"
The driver misunderstands his meaning and replies, "really! How often should l do that?"
