I'm hoping to flush as much old coolant out and refill the system this weekend. I've been driving my neighbour up the wall recently so I want to try and do it without running the engine if possible?

It's 1.9 N/A Diesel. I have experience topping up and bleeding the system, but I've never done a complete flush.

Not sure if it's necessary, but I removed the thermostat the other day to try and help flush it out this weekend. I also have acccess to one of these if it helps flush/refill on a T3? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393420043034 ... gIau_D_BwE

I recently saw both those links when I had to replace my header tank. Cobbled something similar to the first link using pipe, bike valve and bike track pump (with pressure gauge) then used the gowesty method. Did what it needed to do although don't over pressurise. When done I did run the engine to double check.

Interesting videos, but what confuses me (not difficult) is how this method works without having the thermostat opening as under normal running conditions with the engine warm and running. Should have read the first post more clearly, DOH

Just in case this helps anyone, with the thermostat housing removed I simply stuck a hose down the left coolant line/pipe leading to the radiator.

Water flowed through the radiator and out of the engine via the exit by the thermostat housing. No more murky old coolant
