I have a brown 12v live wire hanging in the forward sliding door post that connects to a light. Does anyone know where the other end connects to? I can track it to the top of the.pilllar but I don't want to drop the headlining unless I have to. There is no courtesy light on the sliding door side, does the wire come from the drivers (opposite) side?

The wire in question joins in to the loom and connects to all interior lights . The join is above the interior light above the cab door infront of your sliding door .
to prove it is connected , connect the end of the brown wire to the body work and any and all of the interior lights should come on .

If the lights are switched on to do that
