Sliding Door 1985 T25

I am I new to this forum.... Hi to all T25 owners

Owned my T25 many years, it is from 1985.
The sliding door, slides, but will not get quite close enough to the latch to fasten and close. I have a bolt fitted on the inside of the door and the door frame to keep it shut!
I have tried numerous local garages over the years and no-one can fix it.
I'm in Scotland and wondered if anyone has any suggestions of T25 mechanics who can fix the problem?
I'm not quite sure how to post pictures.

Sounds like something is bent. Have you looked at any other t25 doors on other vans to check this out.

Or dropped, have you looked at the sliding door mechanism at the rear inside of the door, there are a couple of flat screw head bolts there which may have come loose, I lost one once and that prevented me from closing the door. Whilst there maybe worth checking out the sliding track, these are prone to rust.

Various garages have tried those things, but to no avail.

I have added a picture to show how it does not close at the back.
Hopefully pic will appear soon, once it has been moderated.

What happens when you push against the back bit which is sticking out, does it move in and click and lock or just pops out again. Also does the bottom of door have a gap in line with what is shown in your image, I suspect it could be the sliding door hinge, maybe a spring or bush has moved, have a look on line to compare your hinge with what is shown.

I’d recommend Central Garage in Thurso. Very helpful.

More seriously, where in Scotland are you? It’s a big place…

Between Grantown on Spey and Aberlour in Speyside.
Can easily get up to the coast and over by Inverness.
But happy to travel if i can get the door fixed.

How does the handle action feel? Loose & sloppy or taut & positive? If it's the latter it could be the rod inside the door is too tight which would stop the latch closing over the pin and give the symptoms you have.

It's quite taut. It pops out at he back, but the latch is also not catching on the front.
I have the door held closed with a latch and padlock on the inside.
No garage has been able to work out, how to fix it.

I have just found this video posted by another member on a previous post, it shows how the sliding door mechanism works and can be removed, which if anything can give you some guidance on fault finding yourself.
