Bought the above from GSF recently, but have notice that it only has 4 outer holes but these are blanked off for some reason, will this restrict oil flow, looking on line at other variations and cannot see similar ones. Posting a new smaller image, have looked on line for similar filters and they do not seem to have this blanking part in the holes. Any advice or opinions welcomed thanks.

That is the anti syphon valve.

Thanks, don't recall my last oil filter having this valve, wondering if it is for either a later model or air cooled engine, obviously cautious of fitting the incorrect one.  Also seen other variants on line without the valve.  :?

All engines, apart from the 2.0l CU which has the filter mounted vertically, should have the valve as they are mounted at an angle.

Interesting, you learn something everyday.  Got this from their website.  Our reliable spin-on oil filters offer smooth handling and high-class performance. The return stop valve (which ensures your filter and oil channels don’t completely empty when your engine is turned off) keeps your oil ready to flow as soon as you switch on the engine. In cold conditions the bypass valve is essential to making sure your car starts. Cool temperatures can make oil thick and sticky. This valve keeps up lubrication, before switching to filtered oil once the engine has warmed up.
