If it's a late van then it's a simple case of removing a white 'pin' under the steering cowl which allows the indicator stalk to move downwards and inserting a number '19' relay from a Golf or Polo into the existing fuseboard, if it's an early model (like mine) there is a bit of wiring involved.

Should be some stuff in the Wiki (link near the top of the page) about this.

Quickest, easiest and most satisfying mod you'll ever do. The hardest part was finding the white spacer (it's on the left side of the mechanism).

Check the Wiki article, go on, you know you want to. And don't pay silly mony for the relay, try and half inch one from a golf down at your local scrappy.

Try just removing the white pin, my relay was there but not activated on the camper! Maybe they didn't have a batch of the lower spec relays in when my van was being done.

The reason you already had the relay (as did I) was because your van had wash/wipe already. Its the same relay.

Oh and the plastic peg type thing is on the bottom left of the wiper/indicator stalk, inside the steering column cover. I think its the only white piece of plastic there to be honest. Just use something small and pointy like a stanley knife or small screwdriver to pull it out, then the wiper switch goes one down from off as well as 2 up.

I was just going to ask about variable. Where does it fit?

I have a later setup which luckily already has intermittent. Would like variable though. Do you have a relay for me Guz?

How do you set the delay on it?

Where does it fit? - Same place the other one does.

How do you set the delay on it? - Volkswagen Magic

Yeah I dont get how you set the delay time on the intermittent wipe either. Is it something to do with the window squirter switch? You pull it back twice to set the time or something?
