Diesel pump leak advice - poss via LDA?

It never rains but it pours...
I saw some some smoke from the engine and noticed a diesel drip from the lever circled in red on the picture. I think it’s the LDA and it appears there may be a seal failure.
First of all does this make sense? Secondly are they easy to replace and anyone know a quick supplier - I’m supposed to be going to Weston Park this weekend in it!

Ps - I’ve just noticed when I rev my engine the LDA doesn’t move, I take it this means it’s fubar’d...?

Brickwerks normally have them in stock did mine recently , easy to replace, test your LDA using a bike pump

The best place to go would be
dieselkontor in Germany. They own the machine that makes the LDAs for the JX engine, so any new stock that anyone else has will have come from them originally.
Be aware that they produce three versions of the JX LDA - I believe it’s one version for lighter vehicles like Dokas and Sikas, one for heavier buses, and a tuning version.

I had the same problem recently with leaky LDA shaft seal only place i could get was from spain! . Postage was more than the seal.. And be careful when you do up the nut again. As read lots of story's of people shearing them..
Also i just rebuilt my Lda with a kit.. Much cheaper than a replacement...

The bosch part number is 1460280301. Thanks to my local diesel specialist always helpful..

Also as for the LDA variants.. First iv heard about them... The Lda is litteraly a bellows acting on boost pressure.. So id imagine its more likely the variation is in the shaft it turns than the LDA itself as they would be different sizes etc to Change how they reacted..

Be sure you need a new LDA/rebuild kit before you do it. Easiest way to check is to remove the small dia pipe (feeding pressure from the inlet manifold) from the spigot on the body of the LDA canister. Pull the rod out of the LDA so that the bellows is extended. Clamp a finger/thumb over the spigot and release the rod. A good LDA will not retract until you release the pressure through the spigot. This was the easiest way on mine as the spigot pointed down toward the manifold, making it impossible to use a bike pump as suggested earlier.
You have to really rev it to get the LDA to respond when the engine is unloaded, tho a good one will move a bit.
Good luck, hope you end up with a bit more get-up-and-go from your JX.

My understanding is that the variants have different springs internally, and so they actuate at different pressures, and on a different gradient.

Thanks, I’ll do that once I can stop the LDA leak!

When I had the lda shaft seal leaking I was advised that a thin washer placed on top of the seal to compress it a little more would provide a temporary fix . That worked for me until I could fit a new one.
