Cold start procedure in warm weather

Not using the camper as much as I like to, but do take it for a run once or twice a week just to keep things ticking over. Warm day on Monday but used the cold start procedure as normal as not started it for a few days, ie foot on accelerator pedal once then turn key. Engine started but kept stalling, not unusual as I normally have to tickle the accelerator pedal a couple of times until it ticks over by itself until warmed up. however in this instance engine kept dying and I had to keep on cranking the engine to restart several times and even tickling the accelerator pedal did not help. Eventually managed to get away and all ok after that. Following day when engine cold but weather warm started van without cold procedure and got a better response. So am I right in thinking that maybe cold start means not used for a while but in cold weather.

Could it be evaporation of fuel from the float chamber in hot weather, you say it hadn't been used for a few days? A different engine, but I always give the throttle a pump for the first start of the day to prime the engine. But this after the electric pump has filled the carbs.

Providing the choke is correctly set up, the procedure l used on my last two DG's were..
Very cold; two slow presses on accelerator pedal. Release and turn key to start.
Cold; One slow press on pedal. Release and turn key to start.
Warm or hot; slowly press pedal while cranking.

Thanks for replies and advice, I presumed the cold or warm/hot start procedure was for the temperature of the engine and not the outside temperature although this obviously applies as indicated above.

Engine condition. Not weather.
