Temp needle won't move

Hi the temp needle on my 1.6 jx just sits stuck at the bottom left of gauge where you can't even see it. From what I've read overheating could do some serious damage so I'm keen to try and fix it.

I've read a few posts that came up in the search but none of them seemed to deal with the jx and so I'm not sure if sensors would be on the same place etc

Can anyone give me a good idea where to start looking/what the most likely cause will be?

Cheers

Put the sender wire to Earth and see if the gauge goes up

Did my daughters at a show last weekend as the needle wasn’t moving. The spade connection had come off. Left hand side towards the rear if I remember correctly.

Thanks everyone will try it first thing tomorrow. So to be clear I'm looking at the wire connected to number 7 on this pic which should be yellow/blue?

And when I find it just disconnect a spade connection and put it to earth and see if needle moves?

Had mine stop working last week. Over the years heat in the engine bay makes the wires brittle and break within the black insulation they run in, it is yellow with a red trace.. So i recomend cutting the large black insulation that they run in and checking for breakes.

Had to do the same for my oil pressure. And its clearly been done previously on mine

So I found the wire and the spade connector was pretty much snapped.

I've replaced that and turned on van but still nothing

Any ideas on to what to look for next?
I checked the wire pretty far back and could see no breaks

There’s more than one wire , check for another broken as above the yellow

OK so replaced green black connector under the rubber above as well as looking a bit tired still nothing.

Earthed the sender wire while taking a video on phone and it shows the led flashing and the pointer shoots up then goes back down after being removed from earth Is it a fault with sensor?
