Which Loom goes through which hole?

Hi All,

I am still in the very early stages of the restoration / rebuild of my 1983 van.
It was converted in the late 80s to a camper van - a very basic minimalistic conversion.
Bench seats across the middle and down the driver's (right) side, with slats to extend into a bed.
Home made curtains and I am not sure what the cushions were from - they have long since disappeared from the van.
(It was stood motionless for 30 years).

Since being blackmailed emotionally into taking on this job by the mother-in-law, I have been updating / upgrading it to  later specification engine and electrics.
I have obtained an engine complete with all electrics, plus all the body looms from a similar 1987 vehicle.

My query is simple - at the bulk-head of the van, there are approx. 4 or 5 40mm (ish) diameter holes through which all the looms pass and in which the grommets sit.

Obviously, as mine is a 1883 van, it had the basic torpedo fuse-box, and I confess that at the time, I did not pay much attention to which hole each  of the cables came through when I stripped it all out many moons ago.

Does anyone know if there is a specific hole for each loom?
Or can I just use "best-guess" judgement?

I have looked in the Wiki, and I have looked at countless images on google, but the bulkhead is always completely obscured by the spaghetti that emanates from the fuse-boxes.

Thanks for the swift reply.

From memory, I am sure that there are at least four holes.

- Of which only one had a blanking grommet - top right hole I think.

I will get a better picture later...
I am due to do some work on the van tonight :)

From here -
Top Left.
It looks like radiator thermo-switch and fan loom.

Top Right.
Blanked off.

Middle Left.
Main Loom - battery, fuel tank, start & charge, engine and rear lighting.

Bottom Right.
Headlamps, indicators and horn.
-------------------------------
On the inside -

Under the windscreen.
Front screen wiper motor.

Over the heater blower casing.
Blower motor, switch and illumination.

Along top of strengthening member.
Instrument cluster, stalk switches, dash switches, cigar lighter and radio.

Theres 5 there, three on the top (middle one blanked) and the two big ones below.
I know one of the three up top is the washer hose and the two below are the main loom and the smaller loom.

Top left = Rad fan / thermo switch
Top middle = Blank
Top Right = Washer hose

Bottom Main loom?
Bottom Lighting loom?

I can take the grill off tomorrow and have a better look if you would like.

Thanks again...

you don't have to take your grill off, unless you really have the urge to do so.
I think we have more or less clarified things there. :ok

external pics from 1988, don't worry I have various extra bits of wire and vacuum pipes fitted
top left small is washer fluid, next is I think washer pump, last is radiator fan/horn etc...
below that is the big one front to back loom, small hole next to it is speedo cable (mine is LHD) and lowest big one is headlights etc.

Thanks dear chap.

So we are all 'sort of' agreed.
That is all good.

Time for me to finish building up my "supplementary" loom that can pass through the extra hole between to washer hose and radiator thermo-switch loom, that Stesaw and myself have.

So far the supplementary loom will have the additional power cables from the battery for my power steering, and my retro-fit hand-brake warning wire.
Plus extra "digi dash" wires as required and... whatever toys spring to mind as the build progresses.

Here you go...
This is the early right hand drive bulkhead.
Without the spaghetti.
