Mechanic out 5W30 oil in. Okay?

Hi there,
Quick one, just took my van for an MOT and got them to replace oil whilst it was there. They've put in fully synthetic 5W30 oil, whereas I've been using thicker mineral oil. Is this okay, I know about thinner oil causing tapping noises which is fine I guess.
Will this cause any issues or am I worrying for nothing?
Cheers, James

I only use mineral oil in mine 15w 40, never mix them either. I also vaguely recall to only use mineral oil as others could damage rubber seals etc. But not sure so I would wait for more replies or read the WIKI in the meantime.

I ran my wbx on Quantum Platinum fully synthetic 5w/40 for several with no problems, it's what VW would put in it if they were servicing it - our engines are a bit agricultural and may run a dadge hotter than modern engines so a 40 upper weight is probably adviseable - but look at the manual for our engine back in the day there is no one single oil recomendation, it depends on operating conditions, we just settled on 10w/40 in the UK as an pretty effective all season solution based on the average conditions

Cheers guys that's helpful.
Decided it'll be fine for now and will put something thicker in next time I do a change.
