Question. What steel>steel bonding compound have people used and would people recommend for restoration work as a supplement for welding panel flanges and overlaps.... maybe even as a replacement for none structural panel joints.

Ive seen the 3M panel bond and also the Sikaflex 221 plus many others advertised.

regards Johnathan

Was recommended Kent quick seal for bonding panels. Is your left outer sill rusty, i have a NOS genuine vw left sill for sale.

the central and inner sills are good and solid thankfully. its the front and rear arches plus steps, lower b-pillar sliding door bottom... tailgate bottom all the usual places.

I was thinking of bonding talgate lower and sliding door lower outer to help prevent distortion..... probably the least of my worries though.

I doubt you’ll be able to bond them fully , you need good access so they can be clamped properly to get minimal sealant for the most stable joint

For structural like panels on the unibody I would use welding, maybe some 2K adhesives.
1K PU mastics are for addon things like hightops
