Does anyone have any idea what the below clip is for? There are two matching ones, one on each side, I presume it’s something to do with the bed but can’t figure it out

For a safety net thing

Is it for a ladder/safety bar , for climbing into top bed and securing luggage when travelling?

If there was a window next to it with a latch, I would suggest it was an open and close fitment.
