Can’t see your image, but it will be the illumination for the heater controls ......

This should be it!
If it is the illumination, where do I wire it into?

It’s illumination , could be from cig lighter , heater controls or radio.
live when side lights are on

Thanks. It’s never had a cigarette lighter. Just installed a new stereo, no wire for that, so probably for the heater controls. If it’s the latter, what would I wire it into on the heater?

There would / should be a light in the back of the heater control panel.

Awesome. And to get to that I remove the three heater control knobs, and then on/off knob and pull the box forward?

Move the levers one by one to center , and pull the knobs off, then with a plastic trim removal tool ( or filler spatula , plastic knife ) gently easy the control panel facia away from the dash , it has two plastic pegs that will after thirty plus years be brittle , be gentle

Well he beat me to it
It might be worth mentioning to pull the lever knobs off by the neck and not the end as they can break.

So I followed the cable, there is already one in the back of the heater panel. I put everything back together and turned everything on. And I get the following (forgot to test the full beam). Does anything not look right?;
