Hi all,

New to the T3 (VW T25 1.9DG petrol, 1989) but learning. Looking at the engine bay have 3 lines (video link below) connected through a 3 way split, I am not certain what they do, they are very old, corroded and would like opinion as to what they are.

I filmed the parts and the video link gives a better explanation.

Thanks again for any input, much appreciated
Best
Matt

Looks like the unit on the top is part of the ignition, possibly an ecu with vacuum control , or do you have cruise control? the pipes are vacuum pipes( not fuel) the fraying isn’t unusual but they’re chreap to replace, 5 mins work and £5 of pipe

The pipe going from the air box to the air flap behind the plastic cover is disconnected by the look of the video
the rubber pipes all just pull off, but you must be sure that they are all air tight , it’s got to hold vacuum or your engine will not run correctly
once you have redone all the connections , check they are air tight by spraying brake cleaner or carb cleaner onto them whilst the engine is running at idle , if they are leaking the engine will rise in revs as it uses the brake cleaner as fuel
