Hi all! It's been a while but I've finally completed the latest set of videos. This one is all about the front and rear shocks:

Next up are:

  • Upper Wishbone Bushes
  • Ball Joints
  • Front wheel bearings and calipers

Nice one James,

Are you changing the lower ball joints? If so, what device are you going to use to drive the new ball joints home?

Regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart

I used a hammer to whack them out then a £26 manual press to push them back in. I had to modify it slightly to fit but worked perfectly. Should have the video up in the next few days. Just finishing off the editing.

Oh yes. The whacking out with a hammer is most satisfying.
I took the poor man alternative for fitting.
Knuckle taken off camper to remove ball joint.
Then set up blocks of wood using clamp and screws to secure knuckle. New ball joint in freezer for 48hrs. Knuckle hole polished out and heated.
Used a large blunted cold chisel on the outer lip to drive it home, knocking it down at various point to keep all sides equal. I could have used old circlip but ground down new one to fit slot.
All worked quite well TBH. Except l accidentally pushed the rubber cover down and over the waist line. So had to remove lower rubber boot clip, pull it up and reinsert clip again.

Well done James, watching this and the other videos gives me guidance and confidence to have a go myself.

Thank you all and well done Stuart for getting them in without a press, that's impressive!

The next vide is now live, it's about fitting the Upper Control Arm / Wishbone bushings and features my first stab at welding:
