1600CT Alternatives

I have a sickly CT with low compression and leaks from I think behind the pulley so going to need looking at. Small amount of end float but not....crazy! That I can tell anyway lol.

So looking at options if my 1600ct isn't cost effective to fix. Does anyone know of a type3 1600 would easily bolt in. I don't see why not as the engine design looks very similar and I'm pretty handy. Just don't want to buy one to find out if that makes sense.
I guess my other option is a 2L type4 but I don't have a very big budget so not sure thats feasible and not sure what complications there are with flywheel gearbox clutch etc. Tx :)

Ps. Oh and thanks for having me back. Not been here since sold my last T25 in 2012! Back on the square brick road again! :)
