Dogs are going missing from vehicles round here (b***tards) and while I rarely leave mine in the van there are times it can't be avoided. I don't want the van nicked either but my dog is my main concern so can anyone recommend a good alarm system.

I keep forgetting the dog is in the van and put the (sensor) alarm on, get just to far away and the silly old mut gets up and turns round....

Cant help on the alarm, but what sort of dogs are getting pinched?

we learnt with our car that if you leave dog in their,it has to stay unlocked.

statisctics for dog theft is very high, all dogs are risk, though some are more popular than other for being stolen. we have a choc lab and they get stolen alot

Gee yo must be looking at an old school alarm for that I would imagine.
Saying that the top end alarms have so many features its probably the way to go.
With mine I can leave the van with a dog inside ( If I had one) and althouh the alarm is not active the imobiliser is,I think.
Not much help but, Toad and Clifford are two good names for alarms although pretty expensive.

i would go with the bigger dog route, 8st rottie might give you piece of mind. depends on how brave folk are round your way

Why can't you simply turn the sensitivety down? we have an alarm with a sensitivety cicuit, but we turn it off when we are kipping...wouldn't want to turn over and set the alarm off now would we

Most of the Cat 1 alarms have a PET mode which will basically disable the sensors and stick to just perimeter protection (i.e. opening of doors bonnets). Certainly on my Toad which you just held down the arm button a few seconds longer and it armed perimeter only. Designed for convertibles as well as pets...

Also handy if you leave children in the car for lengths of time and don't want them stolen.

As for ? of what dogs are getting stolen well round here two Jack Russels got taken (from the same car at the same time) and I have heard of Labs getting stolen also. but as said before all dogs are at risk.
