Speedo hesitant during cold weather

Meant to bring this up during earlier months. When laid up especially in colder months and then taken for a drive the speedo is hesitant and sometimes does not register the speed. After driving for some time it does release and operate, do these speedos need some form of lubricant, I know it feeds from the nearside front wheel, does it need some form of lubricant there, as the connection to the back of the binnacle is ok.

A little dribble of light oil ( 3inOne) down the cable from the top I’ll help , it Prob also means the cable is routed with a bit too tight a bend in it .

Took it out again today speedo still playing up, firstly hesitant to move then gradually creeping up to 110 mph, and other drivers were still whizzing past me. Got back to the house and tried to find issue but all looked and felt ok. Took binnacle off and went for a drive on a quiet road so I could fiddle with the speedo cable going into the back of the unit whilst driving along. Looks as if there may have been to tight a bend in the cable from the back of the speedo (as mentioned by MOCKI earlier) as fiddling with it made the speedo operate properly. Hopefully issue resolved.

Yeah make sure the connector is sat all the way on the back of the speedo, Mine was temperamental, went throught the checks of the dust /wheel cap as it could have rounded out etc. In the end I pushed the connector a bit and it went on with a clunk. Since then I've had a reasonably accurate speedo.

The H12 connector should also have a clip to hold it in place.

I believe it was all secure, the milometer was functioning even though the speedo was playing up, tweeking the cable as mentioned above released something and now I hope all ok.
