Front pulley oil seal.

Hi,

I may have asked this before apologies if I have.

I am putting this engine together, 1600 air cooled engine, CT case.

The Haynes manual says insert an oil seal behind the pulley fitting. I bought one, but its way to big.

Looking at the front pulley fitting there is hardly any gap for a seal to fit. The diameter of the hole in the case is 49/50ish mm. (See pictures).

Does this case need a seal? If it does where can I get one?

There is an oil thrower washer that sits behind the pulley fitting on the crankshaft.

Many thanks.ImageImageImageImage

it doesn't have an oil seal, the scroll on the pulley throws the oil back into the case and the big washer( oil thrower) in the case helps to keep the oil from splashing out

Thanks so much for that.

I am just waiting for the flywheel to be re-surfaced and then can get on with putting the thing back together.

I have taken ages to get here and didn't want to leave an oil seal out. [FLUSHED FACE].

Much appreciated.
