Unknown filter or purpose

Unsure if this item is part of the fuel system or brake vacuum servo system. Pipes on either side but difficult to track, this sits to the rear of the fuel tank but cannot identify it, looked on wiki and internet spares but no joy. Just added a bit more info, it looks to be where the fuel filter should be, but does not resemble any fuel filter image for a VW T25 when I do a search for it.

No idea but don't think it's standard

It’s fuel filter , as far as I can see from your pic on my small screen .
Looks like it’s a housing with a changeable filter element within .
Replace it with a disposable filter

Such as

Tks, will take a closer look at it again. I have a disposable filter fitted further along the line so do not see the purpose of this one. Intend to renew fuel lines at some time so will probable deal with it then. Always worried how vulnerable and exposed these filters appear to be to being damaged by road debris, as they all appear to be attached to the underneath of the chassis.

Well all I can say is In 24 years of t25 ownership I have never had one damaged whilst zip tied to the inner side of the chassis , I’ve never heard of anyone ever having one smashed , I think you are over worrying ....

Just make sure there isn't one in the engine bay.

Tks some work needed to rectify these when it stops raining. Why do some have this filter in the engine bay in the first place??

After trawling internet eventually found the filter or a similar one. It looks like a Fram G6458 for a Subaru 1985 - 1988. V Odd!

Further to my last, looking for a bit of guidance from the boffins on this forum. Have had a better look at the fuel feed arrangement and from the Fuel tank to the filter there is a standard size hose at about 6inches long as per picture and then from the other side of the filter towards the engine another 6 inches of standard size hose before being connected to a smaller size black plastic pipe approx 5mm external diameter which fits into it which then leads into the engine bay where it again fits into the normal size hose which connects to the fuel pump. All connections look secure with the proper clips and no leakages is this normal plumbing??

Ethanol approved fuel hose? Or did I miss it?
