What engine do you have in it at the moment? a CT? If u have a petrol engine currently, best to stick with it or your need a scrapper diesel for the wiring loom? I have a 1.6D and yes i am putting a bigger engine in this year, wow slow dosnt explaine it!

hi no its a 1.9 petrol, aye ive been advised that id be better off getting a crapper and taking the engine out of that to transplant, christ i dread to think what a 1.6 is like??? im just interested which would be better im looking for more power yet more economical, but im stuck between the 2.1 with lpg or a 1.9 diesel engine?? not that i can afford it at mo but its good to find out

I was running a 1.9 petrol and had it converted to TDI using an Audi 80 motor and havent regretted it one bit 40mpg loads more power cost me around £900 all in made the van far more usable and affordable to use as a daily driver :D

aye i do find the 1.9 really thirsty, i put £20 in yesterday did bout 100 miles all so to and fro and ran out of ruddy petrol on the a38 near ivybridge has to climb down the muddy embankment piddling down with rain climbed thru thick brambles had some bloke shouting at me for anging around his back garden (i was only trying to get to petrol station lol) lucky the station was only 0.4 miles away so got a cannister full then had to crawl all the way back to me van what a day ive had lol, does 100 miles per £20 sound bout right? thats not with me foot down mind,

seriously thinking about the 1.9 diesel but non turbo as they cost so much to replace if they go wrong (the turbo i mean)

If you could do it for the £900 that Steff998 did it for I think that would be the way to go, more work but cheaper than a 2.1 AND a gas conversion. Running costs would be about the same as would be performance , not much to choose between them anyway. Just have to check on the details like if the gearbox you have now would be suitable for a diesel. LPG is the way to go if your petrol engine is a good un. It would be worth going for the TD imo,

Yeah Id go for the diesel too. VW diesel engines are very good, plus you get the bonus of being able to run it on vegetable oil at a later stage when fuel prices really get out of hand.

The 2.1 without a doubt is a fantastic engine, with lots of torque, its smooth running and powerful, but its very thirsty so if you want something that can be run every day without breaking your heart on fuel bills, then the diesel is for you, but if you want power and silence then the 2.1 is for you.

i spose it orderpends on cost of fitting either one i do kinda like the idea of lpg does it last as long as diesel or is it just that lpg is economical because of price of it? plus less ka ka coming out of the exhaust so its gotta be good, altho at the same time diesel is reliable and lasts along time ho hum what to do what to do lol

mpg of lpg is slightly less than petrol , and a lot less than derv, you just get more miles for your money as its between 36-47p a litre depending on where you live. You will lose some space as well for the tank, lpg is the logical way to go if you already have agood petrol engine. Those 1.9 TD's are pretty good and nifty.
