Hasn’t got , or they have been hacked out ?
I’m sure all wiring looms had them in the electrics box in the engine bay
The temp gauge wiring on a early is a single yellow wire with a red trace iirc, working against chassis earth , as the sender was brass and screwed into the metal thermostat housing , with just a unshielded spade connection

Hiya Steve thanks for the help, im going to go have a fiddle now

Mine is an early 1 so only has the 1 round connector which supplies the rear lights. it does have the yellow/red wire but dint seem to have much affect when wired to the yellow/red wire from the aaz engine loom.
ill keep you posted

Take it to chassis ground , the gauge should move to the hot end and the red light flash .
I don’t "do" diesels but I suspect it’ll be a double wire for the temp gauge , so you’ll need to Earth the other one to chassis to make circuit
