I thought I knew every thing about my 1983 petrol every thing was working ok until today, I started her up to give the engine a bit of a run, I noticed that the red charging light did not light up when I turned the ign on, neither did the oil pressure light come on.I tried the indicators they worked but no flashing light at the dash, have checked for loose wires but to no avail, does any body have any ideas ??

First simple check is reach up above your right knee when sat in the drivers seat and find the 14 pin plug that connects the wiring loom to the dash pod and give it a little wiggle

Does anything on the dash work i.e. fuel gauge, high beam indicator, illumination lights that come on when headlights are on?

Connection all seem ok, plus the fuel gauge is working, the alternator is not charging, does the blue wire have to energise it..?
