Installing a stereo and usb power socket in dash

Hi,

My van doesn't have a radio or cigarette lighter. I'm looking to install both a stereo and USB socket and wondered how to go about it - I haven't done either previously but I have read the following:

https://vwt25.blog/2016/06/04/switchable-usb-socket/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://vwt25.blog/2016/05/19/rewiring- ... e-battery/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Are there any other tips/posts/guides (I have searched but can't really find anything specific on here) for a fresh install.

Thank you in advance.

just a heads up in case you didn't know - the radio hole in the dash isn't deep enough to take a unit with a CD player properly. Plenty do fit them but they tend to stick out a bit.
I fitted a DAB radio with USB port for ipod and mem card - they are not as deep as a CD unit. DAB was very hit and miss (I say was, because it's all hit and miss now, goes off when I go around a corner)

It just stays switched off now and instead I listen to all the different noises wondering which will get louder and which will be the most expensive to fix :|

Good idea - I'm mainly after the usb/bluetooth audio anyway so that would suit. Shame about the DAB but I could stream it anyhoo.

I used a piggy-back fuse to provide power to a USB plug fitted here.
