Automatic Tailgate Lift / Pop top.

Hello,
So yesterday out shopping I saw a motor where the lady waved her foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate lifted on those electric struts.
It got me thinking has anyone installed some on a T25/T3 and could they also be used to control a pop-top with extra weight on it?
