Radio interference

The radio in our camper crackles at the same speed as the engine. When I was very much younger (and the cars were very much older) we would fit suppressors to the plug leads or caps to shut this up but surely in our hi-tec 1985 device this is not necessary?

So where should I start? Something more sophisticated or simply wiggle the ht leads?

First thing to do is clean the Earth points up for the radio, chances are it’s the radio aerial that isn’t contacting to the body well enough
Then check and clean the Earth points in the engine bay , then check for dirty bad or arc scored the lead connections .

It may only be one plug that is causing it , one lead to that plug , if you can take one plug lead off the dissy at a time you can isolate which one , the speed of the soark noise will tell you if it’s one or more

Assuming it’s spark noise you are getting and not alternator ? You done describe the noise in your question !

Ta,

I reckon it is spark noise, more a sort of click than a alternator whining, grindy noise

Thanks, I'm going to start at the front, I notice that the aerial is a bit loose and rattly having been trapped in the pop top more than once, then I will work my way backwards, earths first.
