Starter motor doesn't crank then cranks

Not sure this electrical or mechanical.
When I turn my ignition key, nothing really happens, the starter like it goes to turn but doesn't crank fully..
Turn key again & cranks fine.
Wondering if starter on way out, as sounds like it depends what compression the crank it at?

It could be the ignition switch too, which cause intermittent starter probs. They're a flaky part in my experience. Pull off the wires from the back of the ignition and you can attach a new ignition switch, which you could then test easily..

Mine does something similar, but only when hot and within a couple of minutes of stopping the engine. Leave it any longer and it will start without a problem, otherwise it sounds like a flat battery and struggling to turn it over.

This symptom can be down to timing too far advanced if it happens when engine just been stopped .
Also could be the olite bushing failing and going tight when hot

OK thanks for the replies, the battery is fully charged, so can't be that I would think.
It's strange as just started doing it, but always starts on the 2nd crank.
