Hi all,

Just some advise please, i am having to sort out my Glow Plug problem not working and whilst i am doing this i came across the Strip fuse attached to the relay housing and notice it is rating at 60amps, everywhere i look people that are selling them have 50amp strip fuses. Can anyone in the know tell me the correct rating. Much appreciated thanks.

thanks for reply, but I'm not quite at that stage yet, my van was converted from a petrol 1.9 to what i have now the 1.7KY engine, after buying it i have been doing lots of stuff to it and noticed that the glow plug light has never come on not even for a nano second

So i am now investigating and it seems the plug that goes into the coolant waterway bolted to the engine wasn't even connected so i have bought a new sender unit to fit in as it was leaking, and have been tracing the wiring back. The colours are correct for connector as in Blue/White and this goes to the rear electrical box to the bottom of the relay from there i have no idea but i am assuming it should go to the instrument panel wiring i think. and that's when i noticed i have a 60 amp fuse strip....should this be correct fuse

I need to pull the relay holder out to see how the wires are connected and where they go. Help is appreciated once i have them up and running i can then do this test Oldie yeah

I have this to go by for tracing the wiring back from glow plug to dash and even that has 50amp fuse on it

Look at the diagram! Depending upon which plugs are fitted 50A or 40A fuse will do - the wiring will be rated far above that for the surge at switch on so the 60A will still protect the wiring which is its purpose.

ok thanks, is there a way to get the relay holder out to look underneath or is it a case of removing the whole box ??

There most probably isn't a glow plug light fitted! Depends upon the converter as to whether it was connected up or not. Are the glow plugs working at switch on? Have you checked rather than relying on the light?

defo a glow plug light, not metered the plugs at all, just at the stage of checking the actual wiring is there from the conversion that someone else done, there was other things not done right like the reversing wires weren't connected to the gearbox, i have 3 wires coming out of the wiring loom in the dash that don't go anywhere.and of course the glow plug connector not connecting to engine. It seems they done enough to get the engine running so vehicle can be driven along the road, the person must have had some friend to do the MOT as the reversing lights weren't working when i got the van and it passed the same day i picked van up

Reversing lights are not part of a MoT!

oh right still was good to get it sorted at least people will know i am reversing now anyway i will get my meter out and do some checking on the wires me thinks
