Conversion questions

Hi,

I have a 1981 Westy 2.0 CU engine (Aircooled).
I have been toying with the idea of converting my original engine to LPG. But in the back if my mind I always said whenever the original engine goes boom I'll go for a subaru engine.
I know this will be a bit of work as my camper is an Aircooled one.

Basically asking for some advice on whether to LPG my original engine or go for it and convert to Subaru and then maybe LPG it.

Has anyone LPGd a Subaru engine and if so of it's worth doing financially?

I've LPG'd a few engines in T3's - including a ej25 in my last syncro..

done properly there is no problems in LPG'ing the scooby lump.

The issue you will have with the same procedure in the Aircooled is that you have no coolant system to run through the vapouriser. In the old days people would use the exhaust/heat exchangers to heat the liquid LPG but personally I wouldn't - unseen corrosion could end up with liquid LPG leaking over a hot exhaust..

Talk to Tinleytech about an air heated twin vapouriser system. It's been done on a bay, so should work on a Jimmy.
