My 1989 1.9l Watercooled engine sounds like a taping noise we running idle just been serviced as well is this normal?

Sounds like tappet bleed down. Take it for a 20 min run. That should sort it.

What Oil did you/ the garage put in?
Semi Synth can make noisy tappets, best use 15W40 mineral or 15W50 Mineral oil
