Idle stabiliser unit and LPG

Any help much appreciated folks!

My T25 Devon 2 litre A/C is converted to gas, however it is with a garage to sort out some very poor running. They don't do gas (!) so they're sorting it to run on petrol. Once that's done it's off to Steve at Gasure to sort the gas system.

Turns out the idle stabiliser unit is shot as is the wiring in and out. of it My man at the garage has by-passed it and will set up the idle speed using the carbs. Trouble is the carbs are redundant when the van runs on gas! Do I need this part of the ignition in order to run on gas? He thinks not as he reckons you should always start up on petrol then switch to gas, then back to petrol before switching off. Not sure this sounds practical or realistic!

Views/opinions/hard facts please!

Cheers

Ed

Gasure conversions start on gas....and no I don't think you need the stabiliser for gas

my 2lt air cooled (RIP, now in Aircooled heaven) started on gas, even with snow on the windscreen. A bit lumpy, but quickly warmed up. However, there will be others that will say their van never starts from cold on gas.

And for the last few months, the stabilizer unit was bypassed...so would appear that the unit was not necesary for gas. I belive the vapouriser has its own idle screw, which Steve will set for you!

Emma

The idle stabilsers are a waste of space.. just get them to connect the plugs together (or the wires if its all abit scabby) and forget about the stabiliser unit.... the carbs are just a throttle to the LPG.. so when the LPG is sorted it will still run..
