I tried setting the timing this afternoon as per Bentley manual but I couldn't get the idle low enough, the manual says 850 rpm I could only get it down to 1200 or there abouts
I disconnect both vac lines from the distributor and plugged them.
Dis plugs disconnected and plugged together.
I am obviously doing something wrong I'm just not sure what?

Could be as simple as adjusting the idle switch through tracking down air leaks to troubleshooting baffling electronics. That 1,200 rpm value is significant although I can't remember why for the moment.

Iv'e got mine sorted now bar an irritating need to occasionally flick the throttle to settle the throttle butterfly into place - this with a slack throttle cable and what appears to be a good throttle body.

The idle problem is only with one of the vac lines to the fuel regulator disconnected. The throttle body is a billet go westy one that has about 3000km on it.
I may have got to the bottom of it now I think. Thanks.
