Hi looking for some help with my engine.

Have a 1.9dg panel van. Recently done a fair bit of work to get it on the road.
Yesterday went a drive probably drove for about 10 min. Got back home and could see water dripping from under the engine. Checked it out and one of the cylinder head nuts has broken right off with the stud attached. Looking for some help as to will i need to take the engine out to get this off? Also just wondering how this could have happened!m? Thanks

Oh dear.

I'm afraid you will need to take the engine out to remove the broken stud.

Why did it happen ? - Probably the engine has not had the right strength coolant mix, which means the studs can corrode, weaken and then break. There's a decent chance others may break when you are stripping it. How long is the stud that you can take out ?

Hi thanks for the reply. The stud is about 6 inches long im guessing most of the legnth of it.
So im guessing its snapped pretty far into the block.
Nightmare. Is removing the enging on the driveway possible...? Thanks again

Yes, definitely possible to do on a driveway.

It's good news that the broken bit is only 6" long, that means there's plenty left to get a grip on and remove the remainder
