Canvas reproofing

As a new Westy owner, we want to take our bus out for its maiden camping trip this weekend.

It’s a project bus, so it’s perhaps not quite as camping ready as we’d like, but we want to take him out and get a feel for the van without doing all the jobs on the list first.

One of the to-do list items is a new pop top canvas, but for now, I think we’ll just give it a spray with a waterproof coating to tide us over.

Does anyone have a tried and tested recommendation for a chosen brand / product?

Hello,
I used some nikwax tent and gear waterproof spray on our awning last year which has been pretty good. You'd probably want try to keep it off paintwork and use fairly sparing as it was a little messy until it dried.

Fabsil, comes as a liquid you brush on. Mask off surrounding paint with a towel in the area you are brushing to stop any stray drips. Works a treat, I use it to reproof the canvas soft tops of convertibles.

Cheers guys, I’ll head to my local camping shop and see if I can find either of these.
