We had a shoreline which are Electrolux with new compressor on our boat and found it was great. It didn't draw much and ran off solar during the summer.

We purchased a Waeco CF18 compressor fridge (12/24v with the separate 240v PSU option) over 15 years ago and never regretted the purchase. Ours is the portable type and also take it on holiday or days out when we use the car rather than the camper. Pretty sure whichever type, model, etc, you choose you will be pleased with it

Is there a decent alternative to a Waeco crx50. £500 seems a lot for a little fridge

My thoughts exactly however my problems get more complicated. I recently purchased a van with a conversion in place, but no fridge. Measuring the aperture for the fridge I cant find to fit without infilling which would look naff.
A list of places to look would be a start. :ok

Our original 34 year old compressor fridge is still going nicely. It does draw 5 Amps for the pump which is a lot compared to the new ones... But as you say, so expensive. We'll hang in until it breaks.

Unless anyone reading knows someone who can replace the pump with a more modern one? Hmmmm

We use an Engel MT35 and love it... it’s not a cheap bit of kit though, and is a top opening chest type rather than front opening.
